This week was definitely more difficult than the first and second week. I still have to review some of the concepts from week 3, but my goal each week is just to master one of the concepts, so that when it comes to the test I will eventually be able to understand everything. One important concept I learned this week was negation, and turning English statements into symbols. Although I found it difficult at first, the tutorial #2 exercise really helped me practice, and learn how to use each symbol. The most important symbols that I learned was the conjunction symbol, the disjunction symbol, and the negation symbol. The conjunction symbol represents "and" while the disjunction symbol represents "or". When it came to negation one thing that really helped in week 3 was the assignment. During week 3 I started assignment 1 and the first two problems really help me understand standard, and special negations. During our last class this week I really liked how we were able to spend the whole class figuring out the folded paper problem. Through this problem I was able to learn about different methods people take to solve a problem. From just this problem I learned that many people in my class seem to solve problems by drawing tables, and counting patterns. I think each week we should have a class where we solve, and practice solving problems. If these problems were also related to the weeks work it will also be very helpful when it comes to tests, and exams. After my partner and I complete assignment 1, hopefully I will be more comfortable with the content we learned from these past few weeks. My goal this week is to not only prepare myself for week 4 but to also review situations of tautology, satisfiability, and unsatisfiability. I also want to practice using truth tables which apparently is really important in this course.
Here is a simple example of turning English into symbols:
"Every pizza (P) has pepperoni (T1) and pineapples in it."
First you should look at the quantifier, since it says every that means its a universal quantifier

Second look for keywords such as "and" which refers to the conjunction symbol.
